About

My name is Amer Handan and I was an undergraduate student at Stanford University in Palo Alto California. I hold a B.A. in Political Science and am part of the unprecedentedly amazing Class of 2011. My interest for Political Science is deeply linked to my life history. Although I currently reside in beautiful Southern California, I was born in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1988. I was forced to flee Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992 due to the wars that erupted in the Balkans after the break-up of the former Yugoslavia. I spent the years from 1992 to 2000 living in Oberkochen, Germany as a war refugee. I moved to the United States in 2000, and have since lived in Lake Forest, California with my parents and my older brother.

Although you might think that my life story seems somewhat tragic, I'm actually quite a jolly young man. My hobbies include playing soccer, playing chess, eating delicious food, cooking, reading books, reading the news, surfing the web, watching movies, and being around the people I love. Even though I may not admit to it immediately, I am also an avid video-gamer. I am also proud to have been a theme associate at the Slavianskii Dom Theme House here at Stanford and have also enjoyed doing video production for over 7 years of my academic career. As graduation approaches,  I will be continuing my life as a Legal Assistant at Google Headquarters in Mountain View, CA.
